Dr. Gene Sokolov served as Chief Technology Officer at if(we). Gene leads the design, development, delivery, support and maintenance of the technologies behind if(we)'s products. Most recently, Gene co-founded and served as CTO at Tinode, a B2B cloud computing company whose first product was Messaging as a Service. Prior to Tinode, Gene served as CTO of Badoo, a social network for meeting new people. He led R&D operations at Badoo's Moscow and London offices, driving the charge to consistently develop new technology for desktop and mobile. Gene joined Badoo from Google, where he led the development of multiple global and specifically Russian products. In 2010 he became the Head of Google's Moscow Engineering Center. Prior to Google, he developed financial trading systems and started several small companies. Gene holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Stony Brook University.
