Dr. James Simons is a Co-Founder & serves as Chairman of the Board at Simons Foundation. He serves as Director at Renaissance Technologies. He is a Co-Founder and serves as President at Paul Simons Foundation. He also serves as President and Director at Mjs Foundation Inc. Before that, served as Chairman at Renaissance Technologies. He holds a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and won the American Mathematical Society's Veblen Prize for his work in geometry in 1975. He is a Trustee of the Stony Brook Foundation, The Rockefeller University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, and the Institute for Advanced Study, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. He is also an Angel Investor.
